Paramedic Program Now CAAHEP Accredited!

The Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) has judged Guardian College's Paramedic Program to be "in compliance with the nationally established standards and awarded initial accreditation on July 19, 2012."  CAAHEP awards accreditation for paramedic education on the recommendation of the Committee on Accreditation of Education Programs for the Emergency Medical Services Professions (CoAEMSP,) which conducted a peer review and site visit.  Guardian College is the only Idaho proprietary school to achieve this milestone and one of only

Meet Our New EMS Clinical Coordinator, Kim Stead!

Kim Stead is Guardian College's new EMS Division Clinical Coordinator.  Kim has a background in health-care related fields and a passion for connecting with people that makes her perfect for this position.  The Clinical Coordinator's job includes juggling student clinical schedules at multiple healthcare facilities and other offsite learning locations (such as the Coroner's Office), setting up and maintaining internship sites for paramedic students nationwide, and providing training and support for these locations.  Kim also assists the Program Director by compiling regu

EMT & Paramedic Students - Meet your Medical Director

Guardian College is pleased to have as Medical Director for the EMS Division Murry Sturkie, DO, FACOEP, FACEP.  Dr. Sturkie is a graduate of Western University of Health Sciences and a former firefighter/paramedic.  He currently serves as the chairman of the Idaho EMS Physicians Commission and as the ED Medical Director at Weiser Memorial Hospital.  Dr. Sturkie also serves as the medical director for a number of local EMS agencies and is a partner of Emergency Medicine of Idaho, the physician's group that staffs the St. Luke's Health System Emergency Departments.

New EMT Curriculum

Guardian College rolled out the 2012 Idaho EMT curriculum in October, 2011.  This updated curriculum includes additional education in all aspects of emergency care, plus four additional training modules that are available online through the Idaho EMS Bureau website.  The online classes include Incident Command, HAZMAT Awareness, Extrication Awareness, and Landing Zone Officer training and should be completed before the first day of the EMT class.
